I have been a proud member of The Magic Circle since 2008. As a child while I was learning magic I dreamed and hoped that one day I would become a member of the most prestigious magic organisation in the world. I could have never predicted that one day not only would I be a member but I would also (all in the space of 12 months) be promoted to the highest level of membership achievable through performance examination (known as AIMC, Associate of The Inner Magic Circle).
Be asked to lecture to the members on my own tricks and ideas, asked to host the public Christmas shows at the headquarters and also appear on the cover of the magazine. Thanks to a lot of hard work, myself and my double act partner have achieved all of the above in 2014. Our act known as Young & Strange (www.youngandstrange.co.uk) opens up some really interesting opportunities and this year has been a bumper year for us at The Magic Circle.
If you would like to visit The Magic Circle (which is in Euston, London) then the Christmas shows really are the best time to do it. For £28 you get a tour of the spectacular building and fascinating magic museum, witness stunning close-up magic right under your noses from some of the best close-up magicians in the country and see a spectacular variety show in the theatre featuring international acts which this year is hosted by Young & Strange. It runs on December 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and January 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Tickets can be purchased here.
2013 was a great year for magic in the UK and 2014 is shaping up to be even better. Magic is riding a true rejuvenation in the UK at the moment, which I absolutely love. In my opinion this is down to a few factors; there really is some fantastic magic being shown on TV at the moment and also some superb live touring magic shows visiting theatres across the country.
You might be aware that I am part of a stage illusionist double act called Young & Strange. There are some great opportunities to see us perform some of our rarely seen Las Vegas style grand illusions over the next few weeks. We have been booked by RIP Productions to take part in the Champions Of Magic shows, which are receiving rave reviews.
Each show contains four very different magic acts showcasing their best tricks. We did two of these shows at the end of 2013 and are pleased to be doing two more in February;

One of the great things about this job is all the different projects I get to work on. Last month I was asked to star in a viral video for a company called PayPoint who were producing a video for the internet in which people popping in to their local convenience store would be unexpectedly served by an undercover magician (me!!). The results were recorded on hidden cameras and the below video is the final result. I hope you like it!!
I’ve just returned from a month long run with our stage show at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was probably the most fun I’ve ever had and I’m already looking forward to next year.
What amazed me the most while I was up there was not only the surprisingly beautiful August weather so far north, but rather the fact that my email and voicemail inboxes began taking enquiries for me to appear at Christmas events.
Yep! You better believe it! Christmas is not far away and the numerous parties organised by companies up and down the land are already being planned, in addition to lots of fantastic family occasions which are always so much fun to perform at.
Please do get in touch if you are considering having a close-up magician at your event this December, I have some really interesting ideas and formats which I believe are different and magical for your clients, colleagues and families to enjoy.
