Chipping Norton here I come!

Why Hello

Look at me updating my Blog within a few weeks of my original post as I said I would. I have been practicing hard on a few new tricks recently and blimey it’s stressful. I am a bit of a perfectionist to say the least and my tricks really do have to stand test conditions because of the various situations I will have to perform them in. A good trick to me is one that can be used at any event and fit in well, from a Wedding to a Trade Show or a Student Graduation Ball.

Speaking of Student Graduation’s, I am already booked for three Graduation Balls this summer. I am really looking forward to them as Students tend to love Close-Up Magician’s and are very vocal with their appreciation of what you do, they are always a great crowd.

I have just got back from doing a Sunday Lunch in Bray, Berkshire. I wasn’t cooking it obviously rather performing in between the courses. They really were a nice group of people and I was once again able to perform my Stand-Up Show over the Coffee. It went over well and I was pleased with the reaction and feedback afterwards.

I have been booked as a guest speaker for the 729 club in Chipping Norton in March. The 729 club is a business networking club and the group meet once a month. I am really looking forward to it, as its something different I can get my teeth in to. It’s a 7am start though? Good grief, that’s the middle of the night in my world. You can have a look at the club and my mug on the line-up by clicking here; http://www.729club.co.uk/   That’s it for now. Check back soon.

Welcome to my 1st Blog!

by Richard in Magic in General January 10th, 2008

Hi Everyone!!!!

Welcome to the first instalment of the Richard Young Blog. Available on the Richard Young Magic website exclusively, although I am not really sure if anyone will care. I have been thinking about adding a blog to my website for a while. I enjoy using facebook (feel free to add me if you can find me) however I thought it would be nice to add something to my website to let everyone know what’s been going on. So as we are at the very beginning of 2008 I thought there was never a better time to do it.

Well I have had an exceptionally busy Christmas period, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting lots of new people, I spent most of my time in Oxford, but also visited, Southampton, Portsmouth, Newbury, London, Basingstoke, Milton Keynes and Coventry. December was my busiest month ever and I have been glad of the break in the first few weeks of January. I have taken this opportunity to research and practice some new material which will hopefully be suitable to try in front of an audience sometime in the Spring.

Although I am mainly a Close-Up Magician, I am really pleased with how my Stand-Up Show is coming along. I offer this show as an option for people wanting something special to end an evening with, after a meal or buffet for example. I got to perform it eight times in December for audiences ranging in size from 15 to 175 people; I have tried hard to make the magic highly interactive and visual. I learn something new every time I do it and I keep changing and adding new things. The feedback from the people who have seen it has been very encouraging, which is always nice. Anyway, that’s it for now. Check back for another update next week.
